We believe that safety is a fundamental right. That is why the Office of the City Manager is partnering with youth-led organizations like TEFA to launch the Kaloleni One-Stop GBV Response Centre. This initiative isn’t just about a building; it’s about a movement. By combining GBV response with climate-conscious community action, we are building a resilient, rights-respecting city. From timely medical care to legal protection, the new center will be a sanctuary for those who need it most. Together, we are transforming Kisumu into a city where justice is accessible and every voice is protected.

At Golden Steps, we recognize that health and safety are inseparable. We recently hosted a strategic consultative meeting with Community Health Promoters (CHPs) at our offices to strengthen our collaborative response to community welfare and human rights. As the first point of contact for many families, CHPs play a vital role in identifying and supporting survivors of rights violations. This meeting focused on streamlining referral pathways and integrating our "Rights, Justice, and Action" framework into community health outreach. By aligning our efforts, we ensure that no one in our community falls through the cracks.

We recently participated in a critical session with Adolescent and Young People (AYP) focused on the Triple Threat: HIV, SGBV, and Adolescent Pregnancies. In line with our commitment to human rights and community action, this dialogue explored how we can better support young people in accessing justice and health services.
